OPINION

COMPTON, Justice.

This appeal arises from an adoption proceeding. The trial court found that the natural mother had for three years failed significantly without justifiable cause to communicate meaningfully with the child. Accordingly the court concluded that the mother's consent to adoption was not required. See 25.23.050(a).1 The court entered the decree of adoption, terminating the mother's parental rights....
