ZIMMERMAN, Justice:

Defendant James Lamper was convicted of sodomy on a child, a first degree felony, and sexual abuse of a child, a second degree felony. Utah Code Ann. §§ 76-5-403.1, 76-5-404.1 (Supp. 1989). He was sentenced to a minimum mandatory term of ten years on the first count and a concurrent term of one to fifteen years on the second. Lamper appeals on two grounds.
