Welmon Sharlhorne (a/k/a Welman Stovall) was charged with three counts of extortion, violations of LSA-R.S. 14:66. The state dismissed count two, and defendant was tried by jury on counts one and three. The jury convicted defendant of the responsive verdict of attempted extortion on each count.
