On April 13, 1988, defendant was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:95.1. On that same date, defendant was charged with one count of possession of cocaine, a violation of LSA-R.S. 40:967, and with one count of possession of marijuana, third offense, a violation of LSA-R.S. 40:966.
