Dr. Jit Kim Lim is an Asian-American neurosurgeon whose staff privileges at Central DuPage Hospital, a private hospital in Illinois, were revoked. Claiming that the revocation was due (in part) to his race and therefore violated his rights under 42 U.S.C. §§ 1981, 1982, and 1985(3), Lim brought suit against the hospital and members of its medical staff.
