KLEES, Judge.

Defendant appeals his conviction of illegal possession of stolen property worth in excess of $500.00, a violation of La.R.S. 14:69. After being tried by a six person jury and found guilty, defendant was sentenced on January 26, 1988 to nine years at hard labor with credit for time served, plus six months for contempt of court to be served consecutively with the nine years.
