Emmett Spooner was elected to the West Baton Rouge Parish School Board on November 6, 1984 and assumed the duties of that office in early 1985. On August 15, 1984, Spooner was convicted of forgery, a felony under Louisiana law.1 He was sentenced to six months in the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail and placed on probation for a period of three years.
