In July, 1987, the plaintiff lost both his arms above the elbow in the compression rollers of a Massey-Ferguson MF560 large round hay baler while he was operating the machine on his family's farm in Alberta, Canada. Plaintiff is, and was at the time of the accident, a resident and citizen of the Province of Alberta.
