Defendant, William Padgett, entered an Alford1 guilty plea to one count of a ten-count mail fraud indictment. Padgett was sentenced to five years imprisonment with all but six months of the sentence being suspended. Upon release, the defendant was to be placed on probation for five years and was ordered to pay $15,000 restitution as a condition of probation.
