This appeal arises from an action brought under the Nebraska Political Subdivisions Tort Claims Act, Neb.Rev.Stat. §§ 13-901 et seq. (Reissue 1987). The plaintiff's son, Darin Ohnstad, died from injuries sustained in a tragic pole-vaulting accident while participating at the 1983 Metro Conference track meet.
