Jerry Fawaz, a gas station operator, appeals his conviction on nine counts of tax crimes under 26 U.S.C. § 7206(1)1 and § 7201.2 He was convicted by a jury of filing false individual and corporate income tax returns and of evading the retail dealer's excise tax on diesel fuel, all during the years 1981 through 1983.
