Sandra Trickey was killed on November 21, 1985, while working at a natural gas processing plant near Tioga, North Dakota, that was co-owned by Amerada Hess Corporation (Amerada) and Phillips Petroleum Company (Phillips). Appellant James R. Trickey, who has received North Dakota workers' compensation benefits attributable to his wife's death, brought this action against Amerada, a Delaware corporation, alleging that Amerada had negligently caused the explosion...
