Defendant, Robert Grant, was indicted on January 22, 1976 for distribution of heroin, a violation of LSA-R.S. 40:966. The alleged date of the offense was July 8, 1975. After a jury trial, he was found guilty as charged, and on March 16, 1976 he was sentenced to life imprisonment at hard labor. His conviction was affirmed by the Louisiana Supreme Court. However, his sentence was later vacated, and the case was remanded for resentencing, apparently...
