On July 13, 1979, the appellant, Tommy E. Plambeck, suffered a back injury while employed by the appellee, Union Pacific Railroad Company, and while working on its premises. Over the next 7½ years, appellant continued to be employed by appellee, but was absent from work frequently because of his injury.
