The Department of Human Services appeals the judgment of the Superior Court (Aroostook County, Pierson, J.) entered after a jury returned a special verdict, by a six-to-two vote, that the Department had failed to prove by a preponderance of the evidence that defendant Peter Thibeault is the father of Lisa Dufour's daughter Alicia.
