Defendant was charged with, and found guilty of, the crimes of kidnapping in the second degree, robbery in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. The charges were based on defendant's having allegedly taken, at knifepoint, a female employee of a hotel where he was also employed to woods located behind the hotel, where he robbed her.
