MITCHELL, Justice.

The defendant, Ronald Lee Burton, was tried upon separate bills of indictment for the murder of Willard Jones and for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury on Adrian Miles. The jury returned verdicts finding the defendant guilty of both charges. The trial court arrested judgment in the assault case and sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment for first degree murder.
