On January 3, 1981, during the course of a snowfall, the plaintiff Dennis Zimmermann was injured when the car which he was driving in a westbound direction in the center lane of Interstate 80 in New Jersey was hit by a car driven by the defendant Michael Pappalardo and owned by the defendant Michael Spaziante.
