On March 23, 1986, Monica Gambert, a minor, was riding her bicycle when she was struck by a vehicle driven by Wayne Huff, also a minor. The accident occurred in Huber Heights. The extent of the injuries suffered by Monica is in dispute. At the time of the accident, Monica's parents, James and Irma Gambert, had a policy of automobile insurance with the defendant, Farmers Insurance of Columbus ("Farmers").
