On February 9, 1986, a semi-trailer driven by Harold M. Hickey left the southbound roadway of Interstate 35, crossed the median, and collided with two vehicles in the northbound lanes. All but two of the occupants of the two northbound vehicles were killed in the accident, a total of six dead.
