At approximately 3:00 a.m. on January 21, 1986, a group of students at Dartmouth College ("Dartmouth") in Hanover, New Hampshire, dismantled with sledgehammer, crowbar, and hammer several "shanties" erected on the Dartmouth Green by other students protesting Dartmouth's investment in companies doing business in South Africa. This litigation focuses on subsequent disciplinary proceedings taken by Dartmouth and the other named defendants...
