Appellant, Viola F. Caggiano, has had a history of medical problems, including problems with her heart. Her first cardiac pacemaker implant took place in 1968. Pacemaker generators must be replaced periodically and appellee Medtronic, Inc.'s cardiac pacemaker generator, Model 5976, was implanted into appellant's chest in December 1981.
