LARSON, J.:

The natural father of B.J.H., Jr., appeals from the trial court's decision granting the adoption of his son without his consent by the boy's stepfather. In compliance with Supreme Court Rule 7.043 (1987 Kan. Ct. R. Annot. 34), the parties will be referred to as Father, Stepfather, and Mother.
