The defendant Charles R. Bradley was charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault on December 19, 1986, under section 12-14(b)(1) of the Criminal Code of 1961 (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 12-14(b)(1)). The complainant was an 11-year-old girl. After a jury trial, Bradley was convicted of the offense and sentenced to seven years' imprisonment.
