The plaintiffs, Yankee Group, Inc. and Yankee Group Research, Inc. (collectively referred to as "Yankee") are Massachusetts corporations with principal places of business in Boston. The defendant, Dick Yamashita, is the President, as well as a director and stockholder of Marcom International, Inc. ("Marcom"), a Japanese corporation which acted as marketing agent for Yankee in Japan for a number of years.
