Robert Strand was injured in a fire on September 5, 1986. He submitted a claim to his no-fault insurance carrier, Illinois Farmers Insurance Company (Farmers). Farmers denied the claim, asserting that Strand's injuries did not arise out of the use or maintenance of an automobile. Strand sued Farmers.
