On October 16, 1985, defendant Patrick Donald Roberson was convicted by a jury in the Cheboygan Circuit Court of the offenses of armed robbery, MCL 750.529; MSA 28.797, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, MCL 750.227b; MSA 28.424(2). On December 12, 1985, defendant was sentenced to a mandatory two-year prison term for the felony-firearm conviction, and to from seven to twenty-five years for the armed robbery conviction....
