On June 6, 1985, the appellant was indicted for one count of aggravated rape and three counts of armed robbery. He moved for the appointment of a sanity commission and on July 11th he was found competent to stand trial. On October 10th, a twelve-member jury found him guilty as charged on all four counts. He was sentenced to life imprisonment without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence for the rape conviction and ninety-nine years...
