The plaintiff, David Erickson, the trustee of the bankruptcy estate of Patricia A. Johnson, appeals the judgment of the trial court for the defendants, the Des Moines Water Works (Water Works) and the City of Des Moines (City). The plaintiff's action for damages was for injuries sustained by Johnson when she stepped into a water shutoff valve box while crossing a street in Des Moines.
