The defendant, Donald Tackett, an inmate at the Pontiac Correctional Center, was indicted for unlawful use of a weapon by a felon (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 24-1.1). Following jury trial, the defendant was convicted of the charge and was subsequently sentenced to a six-year term of imprisonment to be served consecutive to his prior sentence.
