Appellant, Danny Baker, was convicted on 17 September 1986, of the first degree murder of his neighbor, Jack Goad. Appellant, then 18 years old, lived with his mother and her housemate, Gladys McGrady, who were at home drinking wine with the victim on the night of 23 March 1986.
