PROCEDURAL HISTORY/ISSUES

Defendant Jesse E. Stuck (Stuck) was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and being a habitual offender after a stabbing incident on January 12, 1987. A Beadle County jury pronounced Stuck guilty of aggravated assault, after which a second jury trial was held on the habitual offender charge.
