CARLEY, Judge.

Appellant was tried before a jury on three counts of aggravated assault. The trial court directed a verdict of acquittal as to one count, and the jury returned verdicts of guilty but mentally ill as to the two remaining counts. Following the trial court's denial of his motion for new trial, appellant appealed from the judgments of conviction and sentences entered on the jury verdicts.
