The plaintiffs, Mark and Ileen Swerdloff, appeal from the trial court's order reducing but not discharging a mechanic's lien placed on their real property by the defendant, AEG Design/Build, Inc. The plaintiffs argue that the trial court erred in refusing to consider their claim, first articulated during final argument, that the mechanic's lien was invalid because the underlying home improvement agreement was not
