This case involves the forcible rape, sodomy, and murder of two young women, Edna Bristol and Kathleen Ryan, in early 1981. For these crimes, defendant was convicted by a jury of two counts of first degree murder (Pen. Code, §§ 187, 189),1 two counts of forcible rape (§ 261, subd.
