Following a jury trial in the Iosco Circuit Court, defendant, John Douglas Loyer, was convicted of second-degree murder, MCL 750.317; MSA 28.549, for the killing of his nineteen-year-old wife, Helen Ann Loyer. Three months later, in June, 1984, he was sentenced to a term of thirty to fifty years imprisonment.
