Glen Miller (hereinafter respondent) appeals as of right from an Ingham County Probate Court order permanently terminating his parental rights in his son, Ryan Kyle Dean Miller. MCL 600.861(c)(ii); MSA 27A.861(c)(ii).1 We reverse.

The minor child, Ryan, was born in August, 1982. At that time, his parents were unmarried and Ryan lived with his mother, Sherry.
