After a number of years of service, Keith D. Bailey, a white male, was terminated by USX Corporation on August 29, 1984. Bailey's termination was ostensibly the result of a general reduction in workforce at the local USX plant, but Bailey filed a suit under Title VII, alleging that his termination was caused by "reverse" sex discrimination.
