Appellant Vilma Olmeda was convicted of making false declarations before a grand jury in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1623. Prior to trial, Olmeda moved to suppress the statements she had made before the grand jury. She claimed that her fifth amendment rights had been violated at the grand jury proceeding when, after she had requested an attorney, the prosecutor continued to question her and failed to appoint an attorney for her.
