MATSCH, District Judge.

Michael Elliott is before this court for sentencing on his pleas of guilty to two violations of 18 U.S.C. § 876 by mailing threatening communications to two women. The statute defining this crime provides that the defendant "shall be fined not more than $500 or imprisoned not more than two years, or both."
