In October 1985, appellee, Louis Neron, was convicted in a Maine state court of multiple counts of gross sexual misconduct in violation of 17-A Me.Rev.Stat.Ann. § 253 (1985). He thereafter moved for judgment of acquittal or in the alternative, a new trial. The motion was denied and sentence imposed.
