GOETTEL, District Judge:

The defendant in this case, Patsy Boffardi, is a social worker. (He had been a New York City police officer, but retired after he was disabled in the line of duty.) He has been indicted for violating 18 U.S.C. § 2252(a)(2). That statute makes it a crime knowingly to receive any visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct, the production of which depiction actually involved the use of a minor engaging...
