Plaintiff, Patti J. Coleman, was injured in a one-car accident when the car she was driving flipped over at least 1½ times after she unsuccessfully attempted to pass two slower moving vehicles on La. Highway 486. She filed suit against the State of Louisiana, Through the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), alleging negligent maintenance of the shoulders along Highway 486.
