Defendant, Scott Allen Thorne, was charged by bill of information with attempted second-degree murder, a violation of La.R.S. 14:27 and La.R.S. 14:30.1, on September 26, 1985. On April 26, 1986, the jury returned a verdict of guilty of attempted second-degree murder. The state filed an habitual offender bill and the court found that defendant was a second felony offender.
