Following a jury trial, defendants Patrick Mealy and Lance Spotts were found guilty of conspiring to distribute more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana, in violation of 21 U.S.C. §§ 841(a)(1), 846 (1982).1 The court sentenced Mealy to twelve years imprisonment and a special assessment of $50. Spotts received a sentence of eight years imprisonment and a special assessment of $50. The defendants...
