In a plea bargain, the defendant, Stafford Jefferson, agreed to a 21 year sentence for the reduced charge of manslaughter.

He now appeals his sentence as excessive.

Defendant was originally indicted for second-degree murder, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1, for the killing of Bruce W. Bradford on October 2, 1986, by inflicting multiple stab wounds with a butcher knife. Pursuant to a plea bargain...
