In July 1978 the parties1 entered into a mining lease containing a specific and mandatory arbitration provision governing disagreements over the terms of the lease. On October 29, 1987, respondents sued appellants claiming past improper calculation of royalties owed them under the lease. Appellants served a demand for arbitration and moved to stay the court...
