The defendant, Jimmy W. Reed, was charged with possession of cocaine, a violation of LSA-R.S. 40:967. He was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon, which was subsequently dismissed. The defendant originally pled not guilty to the charge of possession of cocaine. Subsequently, the defendant withdrew his plea of not guilty and pled guilty as charged. Following the pre-sentence investigation, the sentencing hearing was held and the trial court sentenced...
