This case raises the question of whether post-conviction habeas corpus relief can be granted on misdemeanor convictions after all the punishment has been served and fines paid.

In the prior suits, the applicant pleaded guilty and was convicted of two misdemeanor offenses of driving while intoxicated. The trial court sentenced him to 30 days in jail and a $50 fine in each case, which...
