SEXTON, Judge.

Both the plaintiff, Charles Stanfield, and the defendant, Warren S. White, appeal the trial court judgment in plaintiff's favor in a suit on a promissory note. We reverse.

The defendant executed a promissory note which was payable to the plaintiff in the amount of $12,000. The note was dated October 6, 1979 and was due on February 15, 1980. The pre-printed portion of the note provided for interest at the rate of
